The Scouters Lodge A.F. & A.M.

Holden, MA - Chartered in July, 2011

Introduction

The Scouters Lodge A.F. & A.M. was founded in Holden, Massachusetts in 2009 during the term of Most Worshipful Roger W. Pageau, Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts between 2007 and 2010. Several activities occurred during his term that resulted in the founding: it began with the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts presenting a certificate of recognition to a young man who had earned his Eagle Scout which lead to the formation of the Massachusetts Masonic Eagle Scout Association. Ultimately, the decision of several members of that association, spearheaded by R.W. Jay A. Jolicoeur, Deputy Grand Master and Eagle Scout, lead to the organization of the Lodge.

The requirement for membership in this Lodge for a potential Mason - in addition to the traditional requirements of joining Masonry - is to have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, or the highest achievable rank in an ancillary body of the Boy Scouts of America (Sea Scouts, Explorers). For one who is already a Mason and wishes to affiliate with the Lodge, the requirements are the same. A Brother who did not earn the rank of Eagle Scout in his youth, but who has become involved as an adult and has been honored with the Daniel Carter Beard Award, may also apply for affiliation.

The Lodge's membership is spread throughout the Grand Jurisdiction, and has members who continue to be very involved as adult leaders with the Boy Scouts of America, as well as within the Fraternity.
